OTWC was created to provide a convenient, compassionate, and confidential source of healing for residents of Appomattox and the surrounding areas. We believe that individuals have the power to grow and change positively through the guidance and empathy our services provide!

  • Joy founded Oak Tree Wellness Center in 2006 with the goal of providing quality counseling and other wellness services to Appomattox and surrounding communities. Joy has almost 30 years of experience in the field and is committed to offering the best therapeutic services possible, bringing in therapists with years of experience and a variety of specialities to the practice.

  • Kim Steger is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia who has been providing outpatient therapy since 2019. She has experience helping folks from middle school to late adulthood with unresolved trauma, uncontrolled anxiety and depression, and the desire to want to learn new skills (or new ways to use current skills) to create a better life for themselves and their loved ones. She received her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Longwood University in Farmville, VA.
  • Kim pulls from a variety of different therapy types to shape an individualized treatment plan with you. Grounded mostly in cognitive-behavioral, strength-based and solution-focused concepts, Kim wants to help you reduce what is not working for you and increase the effectiveness of what does work for you. 
  • Kim looks forward to helping you move forward on your journey. She offers a safe place to all clients to navigate the inevitable challenges you might face through insight, humor, and humility. You are the expert on your life and your needs, and she is curious to learn what those are and how she can assist you.
